The Artist

In 1996 Jared began his career in glass at Lundberg Studios in Santa Cruz, California where he worked along side Steven Lundberg and Daniel Salazar. DeLong started out in the cold shop building skills in cutting, texturing and polishing glass and later shifting to the hotshop creating softglass paperweights and vessels.

With the foundation of hot and cold experience Jared was dedicated to what the medium had to offer. He started the Lost Coast Gallery and had a succeessful partnership creating paperweights for the L.H. Selman Gallery. From 2002-2007 Jared studied abroad in Japan at the Niijima Glass Art Center and in Italy's Studio Ventro; working with glass masters such as Lucio Bubacco and Davide Salvadore.

Over the past 15 years Jared has been technique-based and pushing the boundries of borosilicate glass. Through his work of texture and composition he hopes to evoke a visceral response and create a space for introspection.

Jared resides on the coast of Northern California where giant Redwood trees meet the Pacific Ocean. Inspirationally charged by nature his work captures the beauty of local flora, fauna and tidepools.
